Digital tools for families

We use technology to reach homes across 9 states. Accessible digital platforms like phone calls and WhatsApp deliver simple, practical tips that help families support their child’s development in everyday moments. These tools are designed to fit into parents' routines and work even in low-connectivity settings.

PhoneCasts

Short audio messages accessible to all families on a simple feature phone. Offers tips and activities on how to best respond to a child’s needs and nudge learning forward.

Bol Saathi

We leverage the interactive power of WhatsApp with a bot that encourages families to engage in storytelling and conversations with children to advance oral language and thinking skills.

Community engagement

We create safe, inclusive spaces where mothers can build confidence and agency in their caregiving, and fathers are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s development. We promote shared responsibility and gender-equitable caregiving through group sessions, peer learning, and community events.

Group Sessions With Mothers

Once a month, we meet mothers where they are. These group sessions reinforce key messages and track the progress that families and children are making

Peer Learning

Dost facilitates sessions in which parents exchange perspectives and support each other so that all families learn and all children benefit from the extended network of care.

Gender-Equitable Caregiving (Through Initiatives Like Papa Ki Pathshala)

We have special interventions to engage fathers. Papa Ki Paathshaala (School for Papas) invites fathers to volunteer at storytelling sessions in their Aanganwadi centre. Papa aur Main (Papa and Me) is a photographic documentation of fathers engaged in Talk-Care-Play activities. It serves as a showcase and caregiving model for other parents, promoting gender-equitable caregiving. When both parents contribute to caregiving, children open up to learning different things from different people who love them.
